Halloween

The night before Halloween we went to our Ward's Trunk-or-Treat!  We had a great time.  We had dinner and the kids got TONS of candy.  I only got pictures of Addie and Owen there.   Addie went as a pink princess (Sleeping Booty aka Sleeping Beauty) and Owen was Joe Mauer (not any Twins player but Joe Mauer - O's favorite player!)  Parker was a BYU football player.
This is Addie's best buddy at church, Halle.  We love her parents (Scott & LeeAnn) and Addie always runs back during sacrament meeting and sits with them part of the time.

Since Halloween was on Sunday this year, I struggled with whether I should let the kids go trick-or-treating.  Scott didn't have an issue with it at all and in the end I decided I thought it was fine to.  Owen went out with Scott and Addie stayed and gave out candy at the door.  She loved standing at the door waiting and yelling "Mom, here come some kids."  She looked so cute.  Scott came back and took her around one cul-de-sac.

Parker decided he didn't think trick-or-treating on Sunday was the best idea so he stayed home with me and watched a movie and ate homemade doughnuts (Since we weren't at Carey Baldwin's house, I had to make my own!) and lots of candy!

I love Halloween.  I just love seeing all the kids runing down the street and all the neighbors out!  It's so fun!

Addie's Christmas List

We got the huge American Girl Doll Christmas catalog the other day.  Addie pulled it out today and started making her Christmas List (she's seen Owen working on his for a few weeks now).  I'm pretty sure she put EVERY SINGLE item in the catalog on her list.

Here's what her list looks like.

Right now, Owen's list has about 22 jerseys, 33 webkinz (he doesn't even really play webkinz but was on there the other day and saw you can make a wish list so why not???), and 6 lego sets.

Addie Scissorhands

I'm thinking Addie wants to grow up and be like Aunt Donna...

Yesterday when I was putting Addie's hair up (I usually take the front part and do a braid over to the side and then put it all up in a ponytail), I noticed that her front braid wouldn't reach back to her ponytail.  I got really excited because I thought it was her baby hair growing out and I'm so in hopes of her having thick hair!  The next day when I was up in her bathroom helping her go to the rest room, I noticed some hair in her trash can.  I asked her where it came from and she told me she cut her hair.  Apparently she went down to the kitchen, got the scissors, gave herself a trim, cleaned up the mess and put the scissors away in her vanity table for future cuts!  If this is the only hair cut she gives herself then I was lucky because it was just the front and it just looks like long layers.

This is the first time I've had a kid cut their hair.  I thinking Addie might give us a few "firsts"!!!!!

Halloween Stuff

I saw these cute ghosts on my friends blog and we made them last Monday night for FHE.  It was really fun and the kids LOVE them.  I made some bigger one's I hung from the chandelier in the entry way and smaller ones for the kitchen.

Here they are in the entryway.

We also did pumpkin carving at Mason Heights (parker's school) again this year.  It's great because you go, carve your pumpkins and leave the mess.  Parker carved most all of his by himself.

Here they are lit up by the front door.
We also did the Halloween Haunt at Kings Island.  We met Brady, Casey and Scott Byrdwell there.

Parker Playing Flag Football

Parker enjoyed his first year playing flag football.

Addie and Olivia (Huntsman) watching from the sidelines.

Parker pulling the flag right before the kid could throw the ball.
His buddy, Ethan Huntsman, was on his team.

Family Pics

Family pictures are always hard for me.  I always work up these amazing images in my head of what I want my pictures to look like even though I know they never will.  I tried really hard this year to go into it with realistic expectations and not think I was going to get a magazine worthy shots.  Here are some of my favorites.

I love this shot.  Scott and I can't figure out why he wasn't smiling but it's still a cute shot.

This is the one I ended up using for our Christmas card.

Scott thinks this one is super cheesy and it is but I still think it's cute.

The boys smiles are so cute in this although it looks a little weird without the football they are pretending to play with...

Owen -- Heartbreak Over the Twins

The Twins were in the playoffs this year and lost the first game.  Owen is a big fan but we didn't let him stay up to finish the game.  When he woke up the next morning and asked who won and I told him the Yankees.  He started bawling crying.  I mean big alligator tears and everything.  After drawing a chart to show him how they still had a chance to win, I calmed him down.

The next night he was able to watch the game but unfortunately it was another loss.  This time Scott was home to witness Owen's grief.  He went into melt down mode crying about how the Twins never win the playoffs.  He was seriously beyond upset.  I actually tried to video him freaking out because I didn't think anyone would believe me but when he caught me doing it, it just made him more mad.

Today when he learned the Twins lost again and were out, he took it surprisingly well.  Scott was distracting him with chocolate chip pancakes when he delivered the news.

I think Scott LOVED seeing Owen so upset over the Twins.  He's so happy one of his boys is that emotionally tied to baseball!

Disney Princesses on Ice

Addie and I went to see the Disney Princess on Ice show.  It was so fun to have a date with just me and Addie.  We went to Noodles for dinner and then headed down to the show.  She kept telling me, "It's just you and me and not Parker and Owen, right?"

I was hoping she would gasp with glee when she saw them come out but she was pretty much like this the whole time.  Just watching intently. She definitely got the most excited when Ariel came out.

It was so much fun it just being the two of us!
