Date Night

Scott and Addie went on a ‘Daddy Daughter’ date night at LifeTime.  Don’t know what she enjoyed more, the actual date, or being able to tell Parker and Owen that she got to go on a date with Dad and NOT them.  Scott was so cute and brought her flowers.  They had a blast, complete with heart-shaped pizzas, prom-style photos, dancing with a DJ (she requested ‘Dynamite’ and went crazy) and mingling with the Disney Princesses.  The night was capped off with face painting.  Addie, of course, picked the design with the most make-up and the artist commented that she seemed “unusually relaxed” for someone her age.  We’re in trouble….

Since Scott was out with Addie I wanted to take the boys on a date.  The choose Noodles for dinner and then Owen had a birthday party so we dropped him off and headed over to "The Web" where Parks and I rode go-carts and played miniature golf.  The go-carts didn't go quite as fast as Parks would have liked and he told me "I thought you were a better driver than this."  It was really fun.  We double dated with Lisa and Ethan Huntsman.

Addie-isms

I love the cute way my kids mispronounce things.  I know it's probably not the best thing, but I hardly ever correct them.  I figure they'll learn one day and I'll just enjoy the cuteness until then.  These are some of my favorites from Addie right now.

Lalem for Lemonade
ogrit for yogurt
crocidator for crocidile or alligator
Litstip for lipstick (she says this often since she's OBSESSED with lipstick)
Scootboarder - scooter
Wipey Towel - paper towel or toilet paper

FHE

We have a few favorite FHE games (probably the fave being Boulah Boulah - which is what Scott says his family played at pretty much every FHE - it's just the getting hotter/colder game) but our favorite game du jour is Pickle.  Since we don't have a ton of stuff in our basement there's lots of room to run.  We've pushed the couch to the wall and the kids love to play pickle with us.  Of course, Parker has to dress appropriately by putting his baseball pants on since he's going to be sliding.  Last night everyone (including Addie) had to get their baseball pants on.  Pretty cute.

This is Scott's "action" shot of them sliding into the pillow base - doesn't look staged at all does it???

Owen's New Do

Scott's going to be so sad because he loves O's hair but it was just getting out of control.  Sometimes I love it but lots of the time it just looks like a rats nest.  I was trying to decide if I should cut it short so I asked Owen what he wanted.  He said he wanted it short like Parkers.  So we did.  The on the way out to the car after getting it cut he says "I don't like my short hair, it doesn't look like me, I want it long again."  He kept saying that for next few days.  I think I'll let it grow out again - it's just not O with short hair!

Happy 70th Birthday George!

Scott's mom planned a surprise birthday for his Dad.  She asked all the kids to come in and surprise his dad.  It was so fun.

Scott and I flew in Friday afternoon.  He got upgraded to first class so I could sit there.  It was so great to be on a flight and read a book, a magazine and watch a movie!  We landed and took the shuttle over to rent our car.  It was sunny and warm and beautiful but I was in the worst mood.  I looked over and saw Scott seemed pretty bummed to.  We both realized it was because this happens every time we fly into California because it bums us out that we don't live there! It's so beautiful and the weather is so great and it would be wonderful to be by family.  Oh well, maybe one day.

We ran by to see Donna and Brien really quick.  Donna was working so I just got to chat for a minute but it was still great to see her.  She's showing although you can hardly tell in a flowy top, which is what she had on.  She looks great.  It was really fun to see her.  We walked over to a little cupcake place by Donna's work with Brien.  He seems to really love living there.

We then drove up to surprise Scott's parents at dinner.  Scott's Dad didn't suspect anything and we told his Mom we couldn't find a sitter so I wasn't coming.  We hid in the car until they got seated and then Scott went in for the surprise.  I waited 5 mins and then went in.  Scott's mom had the greatest reaction to me coming in - she was shocked.  We had some delicious Mexican food and then went back home for some hot tubing.  Kristi, Cole and their kids arrived late that night.  It would have been fun to have our kids there but it was great getting to be with Taylor, Baylee and Layla and getting to play and talk with them more.  They are such sweet girls.

The next morning, Scott and I went for a run.  The weather was just perfect and it had been so long since we've run together - it was wonderful.  We went to Rosa's (another Mexican place) for lunch but we were scared we wouldn't have time for In-N-Out so we stopped on the way to lunch and split a cheeseburger animal style and fries - SO YUMMY!  At the end of lunch (which was so good) Jeff and Alberto came, it was a great surprise.  We never see them so it was really fun.

We went back to Scott's parents and hung out around the pool - again the weather was AMAZING 75 and sunny.  Then packed up for yet another Mexican feast at the Whole Enchilada!  This is where Scott and his family grew up eating ALL the time.  It's soooo good.  Brian, Carrie, Kendall & Connor met us there and we loved seeing them.

We all went back to George and Eileen's (except J & A) and watched a video Scott had made for his Dad of pics starting pretty much when Brian & Carrie got married.  At the end the grandkids sang happy b-day and wished him a happy b-day.  It was really cute.

We woke up the next morning at 5am to catch our flight.  It was a very quick trip but we had a GREAT time.  I wish we lived closer and got to see them all more.

Play-doh

I'm only posting this so I can prove to my kids that I did let them play with play-doh occasionally.  I hate play-doh!  I love that it entertains my kids but I HATE the clean-up.  It's great when you only get it out once a year or every other year because it entertains them for hours.  We did about three days in a row of play-doh and I think it's going back in the cabinet until 2012!
