The Garden of Eden

I have my first real garden this year.  In the past, I've done a few tomatoes and herbs but not much else.  When Scott and I went to Europe and my parents came to watch the kids, my dad planted a garden for us.  I LOVE IT!  I told Scott that gardens are the best when you don't plant them (thanks Dad), pay for them (thanks Dad), or water them (thanks sprinklers).  It is so fun to go out and check each day what has grown literally overnight.  Owen especially loves it.  He's always running in yelling "Mom, come look what I found in the garden!"  Addie is very good at harvesting green tomatoes too!

The garden contains a roma tomato, grape tomato, an heirloom yellow tomato (which unfortunately had to be removed because it was HUGE and taking over everything), a couple of cucumbers, a banana pepper, three jalapenos plants, a red pepper plant, basil, sage, rosemary, thai basil and flat leaf parsley.  It really helped us eat our veggies too.  We had cucumbers and tomatoes every day!  I love it!  I've also made lots of delicious pesto (I even froze a bunch for later), roasted tomato basil soup, and lots of other yummy stuff using my garden goodies.  I'm planning on making jalapeno jelly too - we'll see if that actually happens!

GA/FL Trip

We had a great trip to GA/FL this Summer.  We started our drive down to Macon on Friday morning.  The kids were great!  They are getting used to the drive and Addie went the first 6 hrs. without even watching a movie or anything!  We got into Macon around 5:30 and went straight to Steves for some fried shrimp.  They have the BEST fried shrimp.

We spent two nights in Macon and we got to see Loretta, Courtney and Brady who were over from Alabama.  Corbe had just started football so couldn't come.  The kids were in heaven playing with their cousins.  Scott and I also went to dinner at Leslie's & Trey's (my best friends from high school) house.  It was so great to see them.

Sunday morning we got up and headed down to Pearson.  We met Amanda, Christian and Donna there and spent the day dining at the Golden Corral (Nana loves her buffets!) and visiting with Nana and Grandmama.  It makes me sad that we don't get to see them more often.  We also went and saw Uncle Stanley at his farm.  The kids always love to go there.

We drove down to the beach that night.  Mom and Dad came too so it was great.  The weather was perfect.  Really hot but breezy and the water was so warm.  We played in the sand and the kids LOVED having their aunts, uncle and grandparents there.  We feel so lucky that Mom and Dad have the house for us to go to, it's just the perfect place to go as a family.

Everyone thinks Addie looks and acts like her Aunt Amanda when she was little so I had to take a picture of the two of them together.

Uncle Christian rented a surf board and the boys learned to surf.  It was crazy, Owen just popped up and rode the first three waves in with no problem.  Parker did great too, much better than me & Scott

The waves are really small so it's the perfect place to learn.

I had to take a picture of this.  Everytime we go down to GA, Dad buys a ridiculous amount of fruit for us to eat.  WE LOVE IT!  They go over to the farmers market in Jacksonville to get the best mangos ever, right off the boat!  And there is nothing better in Summer than a Georgia peach!! (these 5 boxes were just the first batch, he brought more boxes the next weekend)  We always get our servings of fruit and veggies each day when we're with Grandmama and Grandaddy!

Everyone left by mid-week and we had a couple of days by ourselves and then Melissa and Neal came in with Savannah and Matthew.  It was fun to see the rest of the cousins.  Addie was in heaven when Savannah would fix her hair, make-up and dress her up.
